Raise powerful Digimon & build a "Digi-metropolis"
- by Liam Doolan
Digimon fans can look forward to the arrival of Digimon World: Next Order on 22nd February 2023. This title was previously announced in October for the Nintendo Switch and PC. It originally debuted on the PS Vita in 2017. The new version will come with new features and elements.
If you're curious to see more of the latest version, Bandai Namco has now shared a new trailer - showcasing 2 minutes and 30 seconds of gameplay footage. Here's the rundown:
Return to the Digital World to raise powerful Digimon, uncover the secrets of Machinedramon, and build a Digi-metropolis on Floatia.
- Train and travel with two Digimon companions at once! Bond with and Digivolve them to save the Digital World.
- Meet other visitors of the Digital World and work to overcome a mysterious power that threatens to destroy it.
- Build your town on Floatia – recruit new Digimon allies and upgrade buildings to create a thriving home base.
In related news, Digimon Con 2023 has been locked in for 11th February 2023. This is the annual celebration of all-things Digimon. It will cover the toys, card battles, video games, anime and also include some live performances and special news. It will debut on YouTube (thanks, Gematsu).

February can't come soon enough! Never got to play this so I'm really excited to give it a try.

Maybe if this game sells really well they can afford a voice actor that can pronounce Machinedramon 🙃

Thank God. I've been on the fence about buying a ps4 to play this for a while. Can't justify having 3 consoles active in my setup though. W Nintendo

Same graphic qualities that the new Pokemon game has if not slightly better.

Nice, this trailer feels a lot like a Digimon game should feel. I think I should give this game a chance.

sigh This game is...fine. I mean, I'm glad it'll be on the switch at all, don't get me wrong, but I would MUCH rather get a remaster of ReDigitize: Decode made and ported instead.

If only they localized YO-KAI Watch 4...

Man, this makes me wish to go back to Digimon World 1 & 2, if I can feasibly get them without damage.
Thankfully they're not too hard to find.

@Paraka This is actually a remake/reimagining of Digimon World 1. The town can be built-up, Digimon age and die, and yes Digimon once again can poop! 🤣

@Sherlock- Not to mention just release the Switch version of Yo-kai Watch 1 (that was already localized on the 3DS!).
Just boggles my mind. /shrug

I used to love Digimon back in the day, however, it's one of those things I lost interest in. Having said that, I dug the trailer for this game (even if it is originally from 2016), so I might pick this up (debating on if I'll wait for the Switch version, or just track down a PS4 copy of the game).

@Jeronan There are plenty of games that could be ported and would work perfectly on the Switch. Nintendo has mainly focused on porting Wii U games, but there are tons of games from DS/3DS that could be released on Switch.

@TowaHerschel7 - Remakes and originals can live Hand in hand. In fact, I advocate for such works as remakes tend to also veer into new territory because of of ideas and tech flexibility.
Would be cool if original games got more collection-type ports.

@Sherlock- Yes, but my point is that Yo-kai Watch 1 was localized on the 3DS and ported to the Switch in Japan. So it just boggles my mind why they refuse to release it in the West, since the localization was already done for this game. /shrug

@Jeronan I guess it's for the same reason they don't localize the fourth game, since YO-KAI Watch 1 sold below expectations in the West. I sure think they could give it a try, since the Switch is another console and has a history of turning ported games into a huge success.
They must be trying to avoid production and distribution costs, yet they could launch the game in digital format at least.
